It Has Never Made Sense

How is it that she can sit in a room full of people, people who are laughing and smiling and joking, and feel like the loneliest person in the world? Feel like she has absolutely no one who understands, when she is surrounded by people who care? How does that even make sense? And how can it be that sometimes she sits in a room alone, with nothing but air and shafts of light for company, and feel like she doesn’t need anything or anyone? Feel full of emotion and presence and self, when she has nothing and no one about her? It doesn’t she decides. It doesn’t make sense at all. But that is her life, she realises, that is her world, and it has never made sense, least of all to her.
